The joys of a quickie.

I cast on this little hat Tuesday evening after I finished Dad's socks. It's Gretel, by Ysolda Teague. I've been eyeing this pattern for a while, and suddenly realized that I had enough Cash Iroha left in stash to make it. This may be the first time I've ever knit a pattern with the yarn it was written for. The universe may wobble a bit.

Anyhoo, I can't say enough nice things about this pattern. It's quick, clear, and all around fabulous. It's written for three versions; fitted, standard or slouchy. This is the slouchy, almost snood like version. Yay for 60 degree weather, I'm sorry I bitched about you. Please forgive me. This will probably be glued to my head for the next couple days. I'm such a knit-dork.

I may have also already promised to make one for a friend who squealed over it tonight. Yay again for quick knits. :)

Dad's socks took a trip out into the showery garden for a photoshoot. If I wait for dry weather to take pictures it could be weeks. I love how the east coast is sweltering and we're smack back in February weather. It was 55 and windy enough to knock the power out last night when we got home from work. Can't we meet somewhere in the middle? Pretty please?

Anyway here are Dad's finished socks and a shot of the left side of my garden for good measure. I've got about 150-200 square feet of gravel to finish on the right side and not quite enough gravel to cover it. The next batch will probably have to wait a few weeks due to the unexpected expense of replacing my computer. I'm loving the progress so far though. I disturbed a dozen or so chickadees to take this picture so they must be loving it too. Excuse the few extra edges of weed blocker fabric I haven't trimmed down yet. :)

The computer is dead, long live the computer.

I'm sitting here at the Poulsbohemian, playing with the new laptop. Here's an action shot of Dad's socks on the webcam. :)
