Spinning Goodness

Did I mention that I accidentally joined a fiber of the month club? Last months selection was a yummy soft breed I haven't tried before, South African Fine. I wasn't thrilled with the colors though, which were easter egg pastels. So it took a dip in the kettle.

I've spun up the first half so far. It's hard to capture the color, but it's nicely and subtlety variegated cool blue with hints of both purple and teal. Three ply heavy fingering weight, which is what my hands want to spin lately.

And after a few false starts, I'm finally happy with the design of Gordon's gauntlets. I just have to add a little loop and button to for securely attaching the cuff to the back of the hand. (Okay, it's really just an excuse to add skull buttons to the project) Then he can roll down the cuff when he's outside on the boat and needs to hide his hands.

And the last current project on the needles, my first socks with my own handspun. I'm so in love with this yarn, so soft and pretty. I think I even managed to capture the color pretty well. It's a deep black with hints of purple and green.

We had a fabulous weekend in Bellingham. I finished Thermal on the way home. I still haven't blocked it, but I wore it home and I love it. I bought little metal thunderbird buttons for it at the Wool Station Sunday morning.

More fiber porn later. :)
