I started dissasembling my first (bought) sweater last night. It's just an old too big pink acrylic number I was going to give to good will. Then I had the thought that it would be the perfect sweater to practice yarn harvesting on so I pulled it out of the donate bag. :) After messing up the first sleeve royally, I managed to get the whole back piece unravelled and balled last night. I think I have the hang of it now. I was racking my brain as I was winding, trying to think of what I would use this yarn on. I much prefer natural fibers and it's not soft enough to warrant making back into clothing. Finally it occured to me that I'd have plenty to make a critter blanket for the humane society.

This is going to be so cool, my mind is boggling at all the cool cheap yarn I could rescue from ugly sweaters ;)

I'm an inch or two away from the shoulder shaping on the back of mom's vest. I'm still not sure if I have enough yarn, it's going to be close. I think I'll probably order another skein today, just in case. I can always make a little trinket bag out of it if I don't need it for the vest. I need to get the other two balls wound tonight so I can pack them for the weekend. I can't wait to check out Beehive Yarns tomorrow.

It grows

I'm up to row... 68 I think.

And here's a picture of Sherry's bag. I finally got to give it to her this morning, she seemed to love it. You can see a couple of the gold coins peeking out at the top. The yarn is lamb's pride worsted, charcoal.

I took a picture of Sherry's passport bag this morning before I gave it to her (complete with chocolate coins, what's a purse without some money in it?) I'll upload it tonight when I get home. I should also post another vest progress picture as I got a lot done on it yesterday. I'm about 5 inches away from the arm holes now. I'm starting to wonder if I'm going to need one more skein of fable... I should know by the time I finish up the back. I think I'll have enough, it's just a little closer than I'd like.

I worked on Mom's vest on and off again yesterday. I'm on row 38 after the edging. I know this because I decided to be smart for a change and count rows so I'll be sure my pieces will line up correctly. (I know, Shhhhocking! thinking ahead, is that allowed?) Other than a tendancy to split, this yarn is still a dream. I just need to be a little extra carefull to make sure I have the whole loop. I'm inspecting every couple of rows to make sure I haven't missed any so I won't have to go delving down 12 rows to fix a mistake ;)

I should get my 2nd Webs order this week (I'm so cut off) I bought a bag of Lano D'oro in dark red, and some assorted colors of Cascade 220 to make a felted bag for the seestor.

Although, I think I'm allowed to do a little yarn browsing in Victoria next weekend when Gordon and I go up for our anniversary. I still need to compile a list of Victoria yarn shops and addresses so I can figure out which ones are convenient to get to on foot. :P
