In other Knitty news, can someone have too many knit tank tops? Because even though I'm deep into the current one, I'm drooling over The Honeymoon Cami

I single mindedly knitted away on the shapely tank yesterday. I'm being practically monogamous ;) I'm about half way done with the back now.
This weekend I'm going to be knitting swatches and doing some trial dyeing for Mom's vest. I also need to pick out a nice cable pattern for it. I'm thinking of one moderately wide cable on each side of the front... or maybe 2 smaller cables...I'm not sure if it should carry on down the back too or not... decisions decisions.
I know for sure it will have an inside pocket, Mom can't live without pockets :)
I'm trying to resist the urge to buy new yarn for this project. Mom loved the feel of my sonnet, so I know she'll like that yarn on her vest. The big question is whether it will take the dye well. It's a 75% recycled cotton yarn, but the other 25 is synthetic. I guess I'll see after the test batch.
I'll be sure to post some pictures of my experiments this weekend. :)

I had a lovely knit-geeky afternoon yesterday. After I got off work I went on a knitting media hunt. Now that I know there are actually good knitting magazines out there, I had to go find them ;)
I picked up a copy of Interweave and Vogue and then couldn't resist a really neat little book on finishing techniques. I ordered a copy of the big Vogue knitting book a while back, but it's out of stock and on order so I got the finishing book to tide me over. :)
After my shopping expedition I met Joy at Elliott Bay for some coffee and knitting. (She's virtuously working on a crocheted crazy quilt to use up her mom's stash of yarn before she lets herself buy any more new yarn) I got another hour or two in on the shapely tank. I'm in the middle of the back decreases after the short rows. It's still going pretty smoothly (knock on wood!)
It's a good thing I knit pretty quickly, because my brain has already turned to the design of mom's cardigan vest. I'm going to get some rit dye this weekend and see what I can do with the naturalle I got from elann. I'm thinking of a turquoise-sea foam green color way.

Shapely Tank
I got through the short rows on the back last night.
I brought it with me today, but I forgot the extra ball of yarn I meant to take. I've probably got a couple hours of knitting left before I need it, but it still makes me twitchy since this is my stay after work and knit at the coffee shop night. I'm starting to think my friends are right and I'm seriously ill with this knitting thing ;)
Oh well, if I run out of yarn, I'll just have to go knitting magazine shopping ;)
Speaking of which, I bought a new knitting book yesterday, "The Knitter's Handy Book of Patterns" I couldn't find just the right vest pattern for my mom, so now I can *hopefully* adapt my own from their template. Wish me luck!

I was feeling tired of little stitches (heh, at least for me) after I finished the tank top front, so I cast on a fuzzy foot and knitted an inch or so before I went to bed. I used my homemade size 10.5 dpns, w00t.
My husband "So, you were tired of knitting...so you did some different knitting...(rolls eyes)" teehee
I cast on the back of the tank on my lunch break this afternoon and will get some more of it done on the way home most likely.

Eeep. I hope I have enough yarn to finish my tank top. It's starting to look like it's going to be close. I hope the 12 short rows at the bust don't put me over the top.
I just went to elann to order another ball just in case... and they're out of my color. I shouldn't be surprised, I know how quickly they sell out of things. Hopefully I will have enough to finish, otherwise I'm going to cry. I think I'm going to make it, but it's a little nerve wracking.
Note to self, always order at least one extra ball of anything from elann!

Shapely Tank nearinig the 50% mark
I got a lot of knitting on my tank done over the weekend, I'm up to the front shoulders. I'll post a picture of my progress tonight. I'm really pleased with how it's turning out, the short rows look great. I really like the yarn too. This is the first time I've used mercerized cotton and I love the sheen to it.
